A Pea in a Pod

This month Davis turned 3 months old. You can see from the earlier post how much he has grown. He loves his hands right now, as you can tell. :) It is truly amazing how fast they grow and how blessed each day is when you have such a joy like a child in your life.

One of my closest friends at work treats Davis as her own child/grandchild. She has bought him several John Deer things (since he husband works for them too)....such as his wagon, a shirt and this adorable hat. He looks like a little man with it on :) Thank you Mrs. Moon!!

Mrs.Jessie's had a dress up day the Friday before Halloween. Davis went as the cutest pumpkin...he wore the costumes so well, no tears, or anything. He is a trooper!!!

Davis' 1st Halloween....he was the cutest pea in a pod you have ever seen. This was his "Trunk or Treat" outfit for church.

Happy Fall Y'all

Fall has been a super busy time for the Dickerson family. Starting out with Aunt Erin's Birthday. The family got together and celebrated Erin's birthday and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Of course Davis was the center of attention...but Aunt Erin had a wonderful day.
Here is Davis posing with his Aunt Erin and Aunt Holly....

Following Erin's birthday, one of my closest friends got married in North Georgia. Dayoung Kim became Dayoung Oh...Davis was 9 weeks old. Not many babies can say they attended their 1st wedding at 9 weeks old. The weekend after Day's wedding, my cousin Craig got married about 10 miles north of Day's wedding site. It was a month full of beatiful weddings.

I grew up with some of the best friends a girl could wish for. Here are 3 of them and the 4th is the bride...she was quite busy that day :)

Here is Davis in his handsome outfit, and his daddy looked very handsome as well.

The weekend after Day's wedding in Tate, GA my cousin Craig Davis got married in Big Canoe. It was a beautiful place and beatiful weather. The location didn't have cell phone service (except AT&T) and it was so nice not to worry about phone calls, or calling people. It was a great FAMILY weekend. It was one big DAVIS family reunion and our Davis had so much fun dancing and watching everyone :) Needless to say, he travels well.

Davis enjoying some time with his gran, mawmaw and Aunt Rae Rae.

Davis and his sweet smile that steals your heart every time :)

Aunt Gina, MawMaw, Gran and Uncle Rickie/Uncle Buck were all trying to hold Davis...it was a battle of the Davis Family :)

And the Race Begins....

Well alot has changed since my last post. Davis will be 4 months old in just a few short weeks. It is amazing how fast time flies when you are a mom. He has grown so much and boy it has been so much FUN!!! Davis has started smiling and laughing out loud. He started Daycare at Mrs. Jessie's and he loves going to skoool. Below are some pictures of a few of the newest pics....

Davis in Josh's coming home outfit. You would really do this before they are 2 months old. I thought I was going to have to explain to my mother-in-law why there was a big split in the back of the outfit.

Our 1st tript to the lake....Davis loved visiting gran and granddad

Davis' 2 Month Picture

Davis' 1st day to church, the nursery ladies LOVED him and he LOVES them.

1st Day at Mrs. Jessie's...He loves to see Mrs. Jessie. He will grin and grin. It makes a mom's heart happy when their child is happy!!

These are only a few things that have happened in the past few weeks/months. More to come!!

Big things in Small Packages

Everyone says the best presents come in small packages, and it is true, especially when you have a baby. I have always heard that when you have a baby you feel things you have never felt before and boy, were they right. On July 14th our son Davis was born at 4:52pm. It was the most amazing day of my life (it ranks up there with marrying the man of my dreams). To see the joy of life right before my eyes...Whoever says they don't believe in God has apparently never experienced having a baby. So Davis was born on July 14th at 4:52, weighed 8lbs 1 oz, and was 21 inches long. Josh and I were thrilled to welcome this new little one into our lives. We waited long enough...right?
Now a month has gone by and life has been wonderful. Yes it has been a BIG change but a WONDERFUL change! He has grown now to 10lbs. 4oz, and 22.75in long and the doctor says he is looking good. The long nights of feedings and the screaming crying is all worth the little giggles, grins, sweet cuddling, and even the diapers that smell like roses (haha!!). Enjoy a few pictures we have taken over this month.....

Headed to the hospital @ 5:00am to meet our sweet baby boy!

Some of the kids from my class came to meet Davis.

Leaving the hospital :) Yippee!!!

What is your talent??

Josh and I have been watching the T.V show "America's Got Talent". It is rather interesting to see what some people think is "TALENT"......like dancing around like a crazy person in their underwear, throwing a deck of cards at objects, or just saying a few unfunny jokes. Now, there have been quite a few talented people that have very unique talents, and some that are just plain talented.

As I watch that show I think about the talented people that surround us and our family. Take my sister for example, she is talented in speaking another language and teaching it to others. My mom and Josh's mom both handle business finances very well, and Josh's mom is talented in sewing. She made all of Davis' bedding. My dad is talented at maneuvering a boat and fishing and fixing things(even though he ends up bleeding somewhere after fixing whatever he is working on) :) Josh is talented in the medical field, he can name parts of the body that I didn't even know existed much less can pronounce. A wonderful parent from my classroom is an amazing artist http://georgiegirldesign.blogspot.com/ She drew an outstanding canvas to go over Davis bed. My cousin Lori is an amazing photographer. I could fill the whole page up with people's talent, but I believe you get the jest! These are all talents that you can't get on stage and perform but they are all talents that God blessed each with.

It makes me reflect and think, what kind of talents will Davis be blessed with. Will he be a teacher like his mom and aunt? Will he work in finances/book keeping like his grandmothers? Will he chose the medical field like his dad? Will he be an athlete or a musician? Only God knows what talents he will be blessed with.

On July 14th we will finally meet our sweet little man. He will be so loved and surrounded by so many wonderful people. I am sure he will see all different types of talents that he will be influenced by, but our wonderful God that we serve is the only one that knows right now, what type of man, person of character, and what type of personality he will have!! We can't wait to meet him!!!

here are a few pictures of his nursery that will be waiting on him when he arrives home :)

Baby it is HOT outside...

When people say "being pregnant is sooo much fun and entertaining" they are right!!! It is one of the most wonderful things any woman can experience. The changes your body goes through (didn't know my belly button could ever be an outtie), the baby moving and growing, the congratulations you get, and so much more. They don't tell you the lack of sleep you will experience before the baby arrives (which I am sure is God's way of preparing you), the heat you will endure if you are pregnant in the summer and the pity looks people give you when they see how big your belly is...oh the best is, "are you sure your not having twins" or "are you having that baby tomorrow". All this being said IT IS SO WORTH IT!! From the time you find out you are pregnant, to finding out the gender, to finding the perfect name, to the arrival, it is all a miracle of God. Davis' name is full of family history. Davis is my mother's maiden name. It is a huge part of my history, because family is everything to Josh and me and is where your roots start. My family loves Josh just as he was their own. Reed was my brother's name. My brother past away at 17 months and would have been 2 years older than my sister, Raegan. Even though Raegan nor I ever knew Reed we know that he would have been one of our best friends just as we are for each other. I can't wait to meet our sweet little boy and the joy that he will bring into this family.

I have been blessed to have a wonderful family support system and the most excited friends that a girl could ask for and a special thanks to my wonderful cousin Lori who has helped Josh and I capture each step of this pregnancy! For those of you who don't know Lori Lemmond Mercer, she is a children's photography who also does maternity pictures. Since you can't have one without the other it is great to capture the whole process. Check out her website...www.lorimercerphotography.blogspot.com. Here are the sillouettes she has taken throughout my entire pregnancy which has been amazing the see the changes :)

June 14th Josh and I met Lori in down town Prattville for our materity pictures. At this point I am 35 weeks pregnant, and it was about 100 degrees outside at 6:00pm. It was hot but it was so much fun!! Some people chose not to take maternity or belly pics but it is a great way to remember this time since your "belly" will not be there for ever (hopefully). It was also a wonderful way for Josh and I to celebrate this wonderful time and remember this special time in our life.

We have about 3 weeks until our little Davis joins the world, and we are anxiously awaiting his arrival. Being pregnant has been a wonderful experience, but I know it is only a sneak peak into the window of wonder that is about to join our family!! Thank you God for the blessings and love you have shown our family. :)

Bitter Sweet "see you later"

My big sis ,who is a world traveler, left Saturday for Europe. She has gone over seas for several summers now and it is always hard to say "see you later" as she walks down that aisle to security, but this time was different.
Last summer my family had the opportunity to go with her for 10 Days before she began her teaching in Austria. It was amazing and we are ready to go back....next trip we will have a curious little boy with us :) Raegan and our friend, Andrea, who lives in Baden-Baden Germany, were great tour guides and showed us many things we would not have seen by ourselves, or with one of those bus tours.
I say it was bitter sweet due to the fact she will be gone for 8 weeks and like always, I miss her while she is gone but this time is different. She will be gone during the time I will have my son, Davis and her nephew. She will get to see pics and videos when he arrives and it will be like she was here but when your best friend, cheerleader and big sis are gone during big things it is hard. With all that being said, I am VERY proud of my sister. She is the director of the exchange program for Auburn University and does a wonderful job teaching German. This was an opportunity she could not turn down nor did I want her to turn down. When she returns she will be a HUGE part of Davis' life. She will be his aunt Rae-Rae or Rae-Lee who will spoil him rotten and teach him German. I guess I should learn more so they can't talk bad about me behind my back ;) She will be returning August 3rd and I am looking forward to that day when the two of them meet :) Plus she will get here when the excitement of his arrival has somewhat settled for most people and she will have more one on one time with the little man.

Josh, Myself and Raegan before she walked into the security area.

Before Raegan left, my cousins, Raegan and I ate a wonderful lunch with our grandmother "mawmaw". She has been a major influence in our lives and to say the least, part of who we are is because of her :)

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!

Many people say blogging can be addicting and a great way to keep your family updated on what is going on...so here we go. My name is Renee Dickerson. I am married to one of the most wonderful men I know, Josh. We are expecting our 1st child in about 5 weeks. His name will be Davis Reed and we are so excited about his arrival. We also have a beautiful dog name Bailey, who is the princess of the house :)

I have been a kindergarten teacher for the past 2 years and will be moving to 1st grade this coming up year. It will be an adventure to have a newborn, and new grade, but I know God has great plans :) Josh is an MRI Tech and has been for many years.

Josh and I love to travel and see new places and things. We enjoy being with family and friends. We are blessed to have wonderful supportive parents, sisters and friends. Josh and I have been married for 3 years and have lived in Montgomery all three of those years.

I hope to post on a regular basis but who knows what will happen when Davis arrives, but I guess you will have to stay tuned!?!?!

Here are a few pictures of our family....
